Phil Magdic - Defensive Coordinator

Phil Magdic was promoted to Defensive Coordinator at Presbyterian College in January of 2008.

In his second season at PC, Magdic was the Assistant Head Coach and Linebackers Coach for the Blue Hose in 2007.

In his position in 2007, Magdic led two of his linebackers to 74 tackles. Antwan Thomas and Chris Bowman both had 74 total stops on the year to finish tied for seventh in the Big South Conference in total tackles.

Thomas picked up 15 of his tackles in one contest against VMI. Thomas had 15 stops against the Keydets to set the individual game record for PC.

Magdic made his way to PC after a very successful head coaching stint at Darlington High School.

During his tenure at Darlington, Magdic was twice named region coach of the year, garnering the Region 6-AAA coach of the year accolade in 2003 and the Region 5-AAA coach of the year honor in 2006.

The Athletic Director at the high school as well, Magdic came into a rebuilding project. He quickly turned the program around, going 24-22 in his four years. Darlington concluded the 2006 season at 9-3 and advanced to the second round of the South Carolina AAA playoffs.

Magdic made his way to Darlington after a successful three-year run as Bentley’s defensive coordinator at Byrnes from 2000-02. He was a part of Byrnes’ first state championship in 2002.

Magdic started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Waynesburg College.

Magdic is married to his wife of 19 years, Robyn.
